I am not against this dude trying this, (if I was, id be a hypocrite of my own driving style) but to post the video only 2 days after, is complete arrogance, ignorance, and stupidity. To assume just because he didnt show his face, so its all good...

In his defense he wasn't being all that crazy, (and from the video, he wasnt being totally reckless, ive seen worse) but you got what you deserved for being a jerkoff who thought he couldn't be caught by the NYPD who rolls 35,000 officers strong... especially after getting the attention of Ray Kelly... dude was fucked from the moment he clicked publish on You Tube.

As a NYC local, and also member of a NY based Camaro club, I have witnessed much more dangerous antics than what he did... (i.e.: a street bike M.C. rollin 100 deep weaving in traffic on the West Side Hwy) so, im not really all that pissed at what he did, yet how dumb he was after the fact....

I award you no points, AfroDuck, and may god have mercy on your soul...

Idiots like him give car enthusiasts a bad name. I hope he gets jailtime. Judging by the fact that he's a 20 year old with a Z4 in Manhattan though I'm guessing Mommy and Daddy will get a pretty good lawyer.

unless they find somthing more serious, I think the most they can charge him with is a few Misdemeanors, and a shit load of tickets...

He will plead out of jail time... but he is definatly spending the next 24-36 hours in Manhattan Central Booking (trust me its no fun) where he will share a 30 man cell with everyone arrested that day, from rapists and gang members... so hes not having fun right now I can assure you...

but his car will probally be seized and auctioned off.... which is to me is justice served

I met a kid in one of my classes that drove a 645i convertible. He looked to be around 19 or 20 and one day I just politely asked how he came by a $30-$40k car. He stated through high school he had worked and saved all of his money and had lusted after one and when he graduated decided to just go for it and get a 6 series. You can pick up a Z4 for around $17k.

I wouldn't be surprised if they can hit him with a bunch of stuff. He said in his jalopnik interview that he has done this run lots of time. I'm guessing the cops will get a lot more videos off his computer/go pro. He's certainly never going to be able to drive a car again, or at least not for a long time.

The exception proves the rule.
I went to school with a ton of kids who's parents bought them cars like this or even more expensive. You have to factor in the extra cost and hassle of owning a car in NYC. I seriously doubt this kid bought it with his own money.

Ah - that did not come to mind. The Z4 is a small car though, better suited to city streets than say a 7 series.

I completely agree. There are so many things he could have done to protect his identity.

It almost makes me wonder if he planned to get caught so he could make a point.

You know, considering the consequences of his run, it actually makes a lot of sense.

If it were me (not saying I... uh... do stuff like this. Nope. Not saying that at.. uh. All.) I'd give the car a cheap vinyl wrap and a fake license plate, and wear a helmet. If the cops aren't pulling you over for going 30 mph over, they aren't pulling you over for a fake plate or wearing a helmet. That would make the car virtually invisible for those 24 minutes.
